(ABC 6 News) — What a time to be part of the Rochester Grizzlies.
Wednesday, the NA3HL’s newest champions held a celebration event at the Rec Center. Fans were welcome inside to get pictures with the team and were also allowed on the grizzlies rink itself.
Head coach Chris Ratzloff and players Zach Wiese and Ben Oakland discussed the path to finally winning the cup.
"For a little while there, we weren’t playing as a team," Coach Ratzloff reflected. "So I told them about a month ago when we were kind of being a little selfish, not playing the right way. If this is how we’re going to play, we don’t have a chance to win this thing. But you know, if you guys decide that you want to pull together and be a team, you know, we absolutely have a chance and they did it."
"It was great, last year, you know," Wiese said. "It was a little disappointing to come back after losing to North Iowa. But this year, we really bonded together, came back and got it done."
"I feel like having those guys and also just the close team and wanting to win it for each other, so, I definitely — yeah, think that was like our secret right there," Oakland said.
