(ABC 6 News) – Students from across the region came together for the 2021 Steam Summit Tuesday afternoon.

The STEAM Summit encourages over 2,000 middle and high school students to pursue science, technology, engineering, art, and math careers by connecting them to business and higher education institutions which offer STEAM courses in a highly interactive, hands-on format.

Skills like working with computers and robots, but also using creativity and communication.

More than 17 hundred students took part in the event at RCTC.

"How can we really create that awareness of what those opportunities are with those future professionals, so they know what steps to take what path to take to get to their ideal future career," Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce President Ryan Parsons said.

The summit included students from Rochester, Kasson-Mantorville, and Byron.
