John Marshall football hires new head coach

(KAAL-TV) — On Friday, John Marshall High School announced the hiring of Kyle Riggott as the new head coach of the Rockets football team. Below is the official press release.
John Marshall High School is pleased to announce Kyle Riggott as the new Varsity Football Head Coach, beginning this upcoming Fall 2022 season. This is familiar territory for Riggott, a 2011 Century High School graduate and current Special Education teacher at Riverside Elementary School’s Right Fit Program.
Riggott attended Minnesota State University, Mankato and part of four NSIC championships and four NCAA Division II playoff runs as a starting wide receiver and a team captain. “Coaching has been a passion of mine for years,” said Riggott. “After college, I joined the staff at Rochester Community and Technical College in 2016 as the Yellowjackets Offensive Coordinator,” The team finished with a 7-4 record and an appearance in the 2016 Graphic Edge Bowl. Riggott’s post-secondary career also involves Winona State University, where he lead the tight ends and fullbacks and served as an assistant special teams coach. In the fall of 2017, Riggott joined the staff at Century High School, leading the 8th grade program for one season before becoming the JV Head Coach and Varsity Wide Receiver Coach in 2018. Riggott has also served the Century Track and Field program as an assistant coach since 2016 and the boys Head Coach since 2020.
“I am very eager to be on the sidelines, leading the Rockets this upcoming school year,” added Riggott. That statement was supported by John Marshall’s Activities Director, Brian Ihrke, “Kyle has a passion for our community and is committed youth and athletics, combined with an impressive coaching background. We are looking forward to Kyle joining our Rocket family.”
