(ABC 6 News) — Yesterday, John Marshall girls hoops came up short during Friday’s Section 1AAAA championship.
With the likes of Lily Meister and Katie Hurt headed to college; head coach Phil Schroeder reflected on his team performed this entire season.
"I asked the girls after the game if they thought at the beginning of the season if they’d be in this locker room, win or lose," Coach Schroeder said on Friday.
"And they said, ‘Ehhh, I’m not sure.’ I thought we had a shot at getting here, but it was going to take a lot. And the girls just did a tremendous job," Schroeder further reflected.
The Rockets coach then looked towards the team for next season, stating, "we’ve got a number of kids, younger kids, coming up as well and it’s always exciting to see how they develop. We’ll be a young team next year, we don’t have a lot of returning juniors."
"So, we’ll be young, and it’s always exciting to see how they develop just like this group did. They finished their season 21-8, you know that’s pretty darn good."
