Kasson-Mantorville student selected to serve on the Minnesota Youth Council
MANTORVILLE, Minn. (ABC 6 News) – A Kasson-Mantorville High School student has been selected to join the Minnesota Youth Council.
Paige Friedrich will represent MN Congressional District 1 She joined the council "with hopes of representing the unique perspective of rural Minnesota, as well as participating in legislation that will affect her generation and generations to come."
"Some of Paige’s goals as a representative are to obtain more leadership experience and to gain more knowledge of issues affecting youth and what she can do to help solve these issues. She is passionate about issues regarding health disparities and inequities, mental health, and education equity."
Paige joins Zamzam Abdullahi and Salma Abdi, both of Rochester, in representing District 1.
In 2013, the MN Legislature formally recognized the work of the MYC, passing into law the Minnesota Youth Council Committee Bill, which establishes the MYC as an official legislative committee, creating a system for youth to provide advice and recommendations to the legislature and the governor.
