Local high school hockey players taken in NA3HL Draft

(ABC 6 News) — It’s the start of a new chapter for a few local hockey players.

Three southeast Minnesota high schoolers were selected in the NA3HL Draft Wednesday. Dodge county’s Brendon Wolesky, Lourdes’ Matthew Mahoney and Mayo’s Javan Hodge all finding themselves on new teams during the day.

Wolesky went third overall to the Yellowstone Quake with Hodge joining him there as a fourth-round pick. Meanwhile, Mahoney was selected in the second round by the St. Louis Jr. Blues, a division rival to the Rochester Grizzlies.

The Quake finished seventh in the Frontier Division this season with a record of 13-31. The Jr. Blues placed sixth in the Central Division, finishing with a record of 6-38.
