(ABC 6 News) – The Mower County Historical Society is kicking off its Lunchbox History series with a piece focused on the history of the Paramount Theater in Austin.
The showing is presented by a local community member and historian Jim Burroughs.
Burroughs has been actively involved at the Paramount for many years and has a wealth of knowledge regarding the process of restoring the building to its original glory.
The theater has been part of downtown Austin since 1929.
"It was deep deep pockets that were needed to purchase that kind of a building and then to keep it going as a first-run movie theatre from then forward," Burroughs said.
Lunchbox History Series events are held monthly on the fourth Thursday from April to September in the pioneer building at the mower county historical society.
It is a free event and everyone is encouraged to bring a lunch and a friend.
