(ABC 6 News) – In Austin, three families are having the wedding service of their dreams, right in time for the New Year.
Austin locals Angel Lowe and her husband Frank participated in the Hormel Historic Home event called "Just Say I Do."
They moved up their wedding date for one special guest.
"I got to fulfill a childhood dream with my dad and being able to have him here has really made it worthwhile," Angel Lowe said.
Angel’s dream came true. She got to renew her vowels to the man she loves, and she got to have her father right next to her on her special day.
Her dad was diagnosed with end-stage cancer last year before Christmas. She wanted to make sure her dad could see this moment.
"We planned it in 2025 but when he got the diagnosis, we knew it wasn’t feasible in 2025," Angel Lowe said.
He says he’s glad he was able to walk her down the aisle.
"I was glad I was able to do it. It’s always good to give away your kids! I hope I’m around long enough to see grandchildren, and fill them up with sugar and send them home," Ricky DeWeese said.
And for Angel’s husband, Frank, he’s glad he could be here to support his wife.
"It was almost a year into the day her mother was given the same diagnosis. We felt like today was even more important with everything going on in our lives that they were a part of this," Frank Lowe said.
Two families, coming together on this new years holiday, all in the name of love.
The Hormel Historic Home has been doing weddings like this since last year, they plan to host more on Valentine’s Day.
