Man accused of punching police officer to stand trial in 2023

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man accused of punching a police officer in May will stand trial in January 2023.

Tyrone Land, 31, was accused of pushing an officer to the ground and punching him repeatedly.

Rochester police reported that three officers were needed to take Land into custody.

According to court documents, Land waived his right to a hearing Tuesday, June 28, and demanded a jury trial.

His pretrial is scheduled for Dec. 22, 2022, with a jury trial Jan. 3, 2023.

Land will also face charges of drug possession and driving after license revocation in January.

Land already faced charges in Olmsted County Court for fleeing police in an allegedly stolen motor vehicle from Dec. 2021.
