(ABC 6 News) – It was a scary situation for a Rochester 11-year-old girl after an encounter with a stranger Wednesday afternoon.
Rochester police said the girl was walking in the area of 7th St. NE around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. She was on a walking bridge near Silver Lake when a man on a bench waved her over to him. The girl told police she walked over to the man, and he grabbed her hand and she sat down on the bench next to him.
Rochester Police Captain Casey Moilanen said the man made some sexually explicit comments to the girl. That’s when witnesses in the area, who are familiar with the girl, saw what was going on.
One witness told police the man put his hand on the girl’s leg, and when they confronted him, he got up, but held onto the girl’s arm.
Eventually, the witnesses said the man took off. Some witnesses followed him and called 911.
Police talked to the girl, who was shaken up and scared over the incident.
Capt. Moilanen said officers found the man near Taco Bell on North Broadway. They identified him as 31-year-old Danio Dorres of Rochester.
Dorres was arrested and is facing charges of soliciting a child to engage in sexual conduct, and disorderly conduct. He also had a warrant for his arrest out of Mower County for a probation violation.
