Marigold Days underway in Mantorville

(ABC 6 NEWS) – It’s a busy weekend in Mantorville, the town is celebrating Marigold Days through Sunday.

There is something for everyone from a flower show, flea market, car show, and more.

There was also a booth sharing the new Minnesota Gold Star Families Memorial coming to Mantorville in 2022.

It has been in the works for two years.

"A gold star family or a gold star parent is someone that their loved one gave their life in war," Co-Chair of the Minnesota Gold Star Families Memorial, Scott Eggert said. He added, "Really what it will do it will represent those that paid that ultimate sacrifice and it helps those families because there is a place to go now."

Construction has already started and they have about $15,000 left to raise to finish the memorial.

This is the first Gold Star Families Memorial in Minnesota.
