Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Center hosting giveaway next week to increase donations

(ABC 6 News) – Anyone who donates blood at the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Center next will be entered into drawings to win free coffee for a month.

Those who are 16 older and donate from April 4 through the 8 will be entered in daily drawings to get free coffee for a month from Fiddleheads, Old Abe Coffee, or Café Steam.

Call 507-284-4475 today to schedule your blood donation appointment. Don’t forget to fill out the raffle ballot when you check in on the day of your donation to enter the drawing.

In a press release, the center said "it takes approximately 100 donors a day to maintain the blood supply in Olmsted County, and some days we do not even get half that amount. People tend to associate the need for blood products with large-scale tragedies, but every 10 minutes someone in Olmsted County needs a blood transfusion. Blood products are used in more than just trauma situations, they are used to help premature babies, post-partum mothers, cancer patients, and surgical patients. The need is consistent."
