Mayo Clinic’s chief administrative officer to retire

(ABC 6 News) – Mayo Clinic’s chief administrative officer Jeff Bolton has announced his plans to retire in November.

Bolton has been Mayo Clinic’s chief administrative officer since 2013 and a member of the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees since 2011. He joined Mayo Clinic in 2002 as its chief financial officer.

"As I look back at the past 19 years, it is the people I’ve worked with and what we’ve achieved together for patients that stand out the most. I am confident in Mayo Clinic’s future because of our staff, culture, mission and enduring primary value to put the needs of the patient first."

During Jeff Bolton’s leadership tenure, Mayo Clinic has made significant progress toward its "Bold. Forward." strategic plan, including establishing the Center for Digital Health and Mayo Clinic Platform, and expanding the Mayo Clinic Model of Care to sites in London and Abu Dhabi. He played a key role in helping establish the Destination Medical Center initiative in Rochester ? the largest public-private economic initiative in Minnesota. During his tenure as the leader of Mayo Clinic’s administrative services, the organization was named the No. 1 hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report for six consecutive years, and Mayo Clinic achieved its best annual financial performance to date.

Bolton plans to retire on Nov. 30.

A search process for Mayo Clinic’s new chief administrative officer is underway. A new chief administrative officer will be announced in the fall.
