Multi-vehicle crash kills 2, injures 1 in Worth County
(ABC 6 News) – A multi-vehicle crash on Friday night in Worth County left two people dead, including a child, and one injured.
John Hinderscheid, 45, of Albert Lea, MN and Thielen Fausnaugh, 3, of Northwood, IA were killed in the crash.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, a vehicle driven by Maggie Harvey, 24, of Northwood, IA was heading northbound on Highway 65 a half mile north of Kensett, IA, when it crossed the center line hitting the vehicle driven by Hinderscheid head-on.
Hinderscheid’s vehicle came to rest in a ditch, while Harvey’s vehicle rolled and came to rest on its top in the middle of the roadway when a semi struck the vehicle.
The driver of the semi, Dennis Stoneking, 62, of Northwood, IA was uninjured.
Hinderscheid and Fausnaugh were both pronounced dead on the scene. Fausnaugh was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Harvey.
Harvey was transported to MercyOne via Mason City ambulance to be treated for her injuries which are unknown.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Worth County Sheriff’s office, Kensett FD, Northwood Fire & Rescue, and Mason City EMS.
