New hotel opens in downtown Rochester

(ABC 6 News) – A brand new hotel opened in downtown Rochester on Thursday.

TownePlace Suites by Marriott Rochester Mayo Clinic Area is located 3 blocks from the Methodist campus.

The hotel was designed for patients staying at Mayo Clinic, has a convenient location with 110 suites with a full kitchen and very accessible rooms.

"We’re equipped to have them stay for months at a time because they’ve got a full kitchen, they’ve got a recliner in the room, they’ve got help to do some shopping as needed, they’ve got a free breakfast to help them save money in terms of their stay and we even have convenient underground parking beneath us so they don’t have to walk," Andy Thilges, Area Director of Sales & Marketing, North Rock Hospitality group said.

The new hotel also includes on-site guest laundry, a large workout facility, and a free shuttle service to and from Mayo Clinic.
