Northwood apartment building a ‘total loss’, no one injured

(ABC 6 News) — Several area fire departments responded to a structure fire in Northwood, IA Monday.
According to the Northwood Volunteer Fire department, crews responded to a fire at 520 Central Ave at 11:30 a.m. The building was mixed with residential and commercial units. The Worth County sheriff’s office said the fire included an apartment complex and two nearby buildings.
Northwood Fire was assisted by Kensett, Manly, Joice, Lake Mills fire Glenville fire departments, the Worth County Sheriff’s office, Worth County EMA, City of Northwood, North Iowa CERT, Alliant Energy, and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s office.
The building is considered a total loss. There were no injuries to residents, but there were pets that died in the fire.
The Northwood Volunteer Fire Department responded with a total of 20 firefighters and 6 apparatus.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
