Officials continue to be concerned about pediatric cases of Covid 19
Officials continue to be concerned about pediatric cases of Covid 19. In today’s Minnesota Department of Health briefing, Commissioner, Jan Malcom says there is concern with the impact on Children. It was reported today that Minnesota is averaging about 3000 cases per week with kids under 12 years of age, and as of today’s briefing, there were only 21 pediatric ICU beds available including only 2 in Southeastern Minnesota and none in central Minnesota. Commissioner Malcom also noted that more than 990 schools have reported cases. It was further noted in the briefing today that the strain on medical facilities, and staff, is being exacerbated by those whom now need other kinds of care for issues that had been put off during the early onset of the pandemic. The Minnesota Department of Health urged everyone to continue to using safe practices such as masking indoors.
