One person taken to hospital after apartment fire in Charles City

(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Charles City Fire Department responded to an apartment fire Wednesday night.

Firefighters were sent to the 700 block of Milwaukee St. in Charles City for a structure fire around 9:05 p.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters found smoke coming from the second-story apartment.

Everyone inside evacuated, and one person was taken to Floyd County Medical Center for evaluation for possible smoke inhalation.

The fire is still under investigation but does not appear to be suspicious, according to the Charles City Fire Department.

There is fire damage to one apartment and the attic and water damage throughout much of the building, according to the fire department.
