Police Explorers hold annual State Conference in Rochester

(ABC 6 News) – The 47th Explorers State Conference is taking place this weekend at the Mayo Civic Center.
Police Explorers is a statewide program for young people ages 15-20 to learn more about law enforcement careers.
Explorers will also have a chance to compete in exercises, including scenarios like traffic stops, domestic assaults, hostage situations among others.
"Pretty much we take a lot of the main things that law enforcement usually encounters and put them in controlled situation here. So that they can practice and demonstrate the skills that we practice during our regular meetings," Rochester Explorers Lead Officer Alex Kendrick said.
"The cadets have alot of enthuisaum and are really looking forwar to advacing thier carears in law enforcement and becoming peace officers in the state of Minnesota," said Vincent Scheckel, Director orf Law Enforcement Skills Program at RCTC.
