(ABC 6 Sports) — The scores were close, but simply not enough for two Rochester-area alumni Saturday night.
Alyssa Ustby and Liv Korngable both participated in their respective colleges’ efforts to advance to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Women’s Tournament.
Ustby, a star player during her time at Lourdes, assisted #8 North Carolina in their bid to upset #1 South Carolina. Ustby had four points while grabbing seven rebounds and two assists in what would be a 69-61 loss on Friday.
Korngable, a former Mayo Spartan, had six points, four assists and a steal in #10 South Dakota’s close 52-49 defeat to #3 Michigan on Saturday.
