(ABC 6 News) — Three Rochester-area high school teams participated in the Lourdes Invitational Saturday, just outside RCTC at the Rochester Youth Softball Complex.
The Mayo Spartans tussled with the Maranatha Christian Academy Mustangs, the former clearly in control throughout. Santanna Heise made a base hit to send Hailey Lampers home, as part of a 9-1 dominating win over MCA.
Meanwhile, Lourdes struggled against Saint Paul Central, allowing a run while a would-be out throw to first baseman Leah Weineke did not arrive in time. Eagles catcher Allison Restovich was able to salvage things with an out at the plate but the deficit proved to be too strong for the Eagles. Lourdes dropped their contest with the Minutemen, 8-4.
As for John Marshall, their match with Cannon Falls went less than desirable as well. While the Rockets’ Alexandra Johnson struck out, the Bombers’ Rachael Miller launched a two-run home run to left, padding the lead for Cannon Falls. Ultimately, John Marshall lost 11-7.
