Rochester business owner, RSMA director announce candidacy for the MNHouse District 25B
(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester business owner announced his candidacy for state House of Representatives in District 25B.
Andy Smith, who is the owner and founder of Gray Duck Theater & Coffee House and Garden Party Books in Rochester will be running as a DFL candidate.
Rochester Math and Science Academy president Abdulkadir Abdalla also announced his run for the senate district.
Abdalla ran against Tina Liebling in 2017, but was defeated in the convention.
According to his website, Smith first considered running for office as he interacted with the Rochester community through Gray Duck. In conversations on all kinds of topics, people shared the many issues that need to be addressed to create an equitable community in Rochester where everyone can flourish.
The seat is currently held by DFL Liz Bolden, who announced last week that she is running for state Senate in District 25.
It is with great hope that I announce my candidacy for the #MNHouse in District 25B. I love this community and am excited to build a coalition for change in Minnesota!
