Rochester hero awarded Congressional Medal of Honor Young Hero Award

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester teenager was honored with a very special award for his heroic act in 2018 Friday evening.
16-year-old Cody Runyon received the Congressional Medal of Honor Young Heroes Award in Boston. The ceremony was postponed twice due to the pandemic but Cody finally got to accept his award on Friday.
In 2018, when Runyon was just 13 years old, he saw a boy named Evan lying at the bottom of a pool, Cody dove in and swam with him on his back to the shallow end of the pool.
A woman jumped out of her wheelchair to give Evan CPR.

Over 3,500 people have received this award by risking their lives to save others. But, only 67 of them are still living.
Cody has been honored by the city of Rochester and was awarded the Citizen Life-Saving Award by the Rochester Police Department in 2019.
