A 40-year-old Rochester man has been arrested after police say he assaulted another man with a knife early Tuesday morning at an apartment in southeast Rochester.

Police said they received a disorderly conduct call just after 1 a.m. at Meadow Park Apartments.

When officers arrived they could hear someone yelling from a second-floor apartment and another person calling out for help. Officers knocked and announced themselves but no one answered the door.

When officers got inside, they said a man was standing near the door with a knife. Officers went to arrest the man, later identified as 40-year-old Abdirahman Sheik-Yusuf, he was non-compliant and attempted to reach into his pocket. Officers placed him in handcuffs and located a stun gun in his pocket.

Officers located a 52-year-old man from Rochester lying on the ground inside the apartment. The man had a cut on his face and neck and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.

Police said there were several other people in the apartment at the time but they gave conflicting statements of what happened.

Sheik-Yusuf is facing possible charges of 2nd, 3rd and 5th-degree assault and a prohibited person in possession of a stun gun.
