Rochester PD is distributing free firearm safety kits
(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Police Department is continuing their commitment to disrupt gun violence and promote gun safety in the community by distributing free firearm safety kits.
The kit includes a cable-style gun-locking device and a safety brochure.
RPD says the free safety kits are through a partnership with Project Child Safe, a nationwide educational program that promotes the safe storage of firearms in the home.
Project Child Safe has partnered with 15,000 law enforcement agencies across the country to give away more than 38 million gun locks in the last 20 years.
To claim a kit (one per household), stop by one of the Police Records locations: North Station (4001 West River Pkwy NW) or Law Enforcement Center (101 4th Street SE). Police Records is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
