(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Public school district is proposing budget reductions of seven million dollars that need to be made before next fall.
Rochester Public Schools is facing a projected operating budget deficit of up to $23 million for the 2022-2023 school year.
The district says one reason behind the deficit is the number of students has grown over 8 percent with the number of staff growing over 30 percent in the last 12 years.
Federal COVID funds have provided relief, but that money will run out at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.
