RPD: Man shot in the leg Monday night, man arrested nearby possibly involved in shooting

(ABC 6 NEWS) – The Rochester Police Department said a man was shot in the leg Monday night in southeast Rochester and a man arrested in the area may be connected to the shooting.
Police said a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both from Rochester, were sitting in a truck that was parked in the 400 block of 11th St SE when two men approached his truck.
The 21-year-old told police the men tried to get into his truck and told him to give them the truck but he didn’t. He told police the men pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the truck hitting him in the leg.
The 21-year-old then drove off after being shot. Police said the men fired several more shots at the truck as it drove away. Police at the scene located around six shell casings.
The driver was taken to St Marys. The woman in the truck was not hurt.
Police said around the same time an officer saw a vehicle driving on 11th St SE near 3rd Ave that had a malfunctioning tail light. The officer pulled over the driver and as he approached the vehicle he could smell marijuana.
The officer searched the vehicle and located a handgun and a small amount of marijuana. Police said the handgun found in the vehicle was the same caliber that was used in the shooting.
The driver, 19-year-old Moel Wade of Rochester, was arrested. He is facing possible charges for carrying a pistol without a permit and possession of marijuana.
Police said they are investigating whether or not Wade was involved in the shooting. The Rochester Police Department said the call for the shooting came in while the officer was interacting with Wade.

There are reports of a shooting in southeast Rochester, according to the Rochester Police Department Daily Incident Log.
According to the log, the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Monday night near 11th St. SE in Rochester.
No information has been confirmed with the Rochester Police Department.
