RPD: Man steals vehicle after confronted by victim

(ABC 6 NEWS) – A man was arrested after he allegedly stole a vehicle after being confronted by the vehicle’s owner on Friday morning, according to Rochester Police.

Police said around 7:55 a.m. on Friday, February 25, a 36-year-old Rochester man left his vehicle running and unlocked in the parking lot of Fiddlehead Coffee in the 1600 block of W. Center St.

The man saw a person inside of his car and came out to confront him. Police said the man in the car, 33-year-old Micahel Yzagurrie, tried to take the key fob from the victim but was unsuccessful.

Both men walked away and the victim went back inside the coffee shop.

However, police said Yzagurrie walked back to the victim’s car and drove it away. Police said he ditched the car in the parking lot of the Barlow Plaza Hy-Vee.

Yzagurrie was eventually arrested. He is facing possible charges of motor vehicle theft and obstructing the legal process.
