RPD: Rochester man’s vehicle hit by gunfire, no injuries reported

(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Police Department said Tuesday morning that a 23-year-old Rochester man’s vehicle was hit by gunfire Monday night.

After officers responded to the scene a witness noted a vehicle that had driven off and may have been involved.

Officers located the vehicle nearby and spoke with the 23-year-old Rochester man inside. He said he had been sitting in his vehicle in the street when someone shot at him.

Police noted several holes in his vehicle but said the man was not hurt.

A total of nine shell casings were found in the road where the shooting happened.

Rochester police responded to a report of gunshots on the city’s northeast side Monday evening.

Police tell ABC 6 News, they received several calls from neighbors about gunshots around 8:45 p.m. on 500 block of Northern Hills Drive Northeast.

Officers found approximately 10 to 12 shell casings at the scene.One victim was unharmed but there were bullet holes in his vehicle.

RPD says while a suspect is not in custody at this time, they believe there is no threat to the public.

This is an active investigation.
