RPS enrollment projection shows drop in student numbers

(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Public School board members talked about the strategic action plan, as well as student enrollment projections through the 2013-2032 school year, during Tuesday night’s meeting.

In a report by the Executive Director of Finance for the district, the pandemic is impacting enrollment projections, with student enrollment estimated to decrease over the next 10 years.

Before the pandemic, the district was projected to see an average 99% capacity in its schools, but now, according to the new report, it’s looking closer to 73%.

Along with the pandemic, the district also cites lower birth numbers, meaning less students are entering kindergarten in the district.
