Sen. Klobuchar introduces bipartisan bill to ease shipping backlogs

(ABC 6 News) – The pandemic has highlighted significant supply chain disruptions across the world.

U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota) has introduced a new bipartisan bill to help ease export shipping backlogs and boost U.S. exports.

Klobuchar said this is important for Minnesota because the state is one of the top exporters for agriculture. The dairy industry has also experienced a lot of losses because of shipping costs.

"This will help the Ag communities fully behind this bill because they’ve suffered because they want to ship their goods to other countries. We don’t want everything just coming here from China. We want to make things in America, use them in America, but also ship things to other places," Sen. Klobuchar said.

This legislation will help level the playing field for American exporters so they can get their goods to market on time and for a fair price.

Klobuchar is hopeful this could pass in the next two months.
