Several farm animals killed in Kalmar Township shed fire
(ABC 6 News) – Several farm animals were killed in a shed fire Thursday afternoon in Kalmar Township.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office said it received a call from someone passing by a home in the 9200 block of Town Hall Road NW just after 3 p.m. The caller told dispatch that a shed was on fire.
Responding deputies arrived and an approximately 20 by 30-foot shed was engulfed in flames.
The owner was not home at the time but told deputies there were heaters in the shed. It is unknown if the heaters started the fire or if it was something else. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
The sheriff’s office said four calves, nine pigs and six chickens were killed in the fire. The shed is considered a total loss. No damage estimate was available Friday morning.
