(ABC 6 News) – Tis’ the season for giving and local non-profits are counting on charitable donations as we get closer to Christmas and that includes Toys for Tots.
ABC 6 News is partnering again this year with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program to help collect new unwrapped toys that are all given out the week leading up to Christmas to local families.
"This year we’re looking at about 10 thousand kids. The numbers change every year because we work with about 30 local organizations. They identify the need locally and send a message. Hey, we have this many kids who need this many toys and we deliver toys twice for them," 1st Sgt. Vince Reynolds, U.S. Marine Corps Coordinator said.
Scheels matched all donations up to $7,000. Treasure Island Casino also donated a check for $2,500. Which will help buy gifts for kids of all ages throughout southeastern Minnesota.
If you want to donate there are 120 drop-off locations across the region.
The Toys for Tots collection runs through December 22nd.
