Traffic deaths keep mounting

(ABC 6 News) The Minnesota Department of Public Safety said that there have now been 401 people who have died on Minnesota roads, compared to 322 at this time, last year.

While pedestrian deaths have climbed from 36 last year to 46 this year, speed related deaths continue to be a major factor with a 33% increase year over.

There has been progress made, as the report shows, with distracted-related deaths down by 36% from last year.

The largest share of deaths, so far this year, has been 21 to 40 year olds which make up more than 34% of the 401 fatalities.
