Two Nebraska students plan to visit every city in Iowa this summer
(ABC 6 News) – Seth Varner and Austin Schneider of ‘Visit939Iowa’ will be making a visit to Mason City on Saturday.
The University of Nebraska sophomores are on a mission to visit all 939 incorporated towns in Iowa this summer.
After being sent home in March of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last summer, the college students visited all 531 towns in the state of Nebraska. After their travels, they had managed to garner the attention of over 22,000 individuals on their Facebook page and wrote a “coffee table book” detailing their journey.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Seth and Austin to Mason City. Their travels help locals recognize what’s in their backyard,” said Lindsey James, Executive Director of Visit Mason City.
Varner and Schneider are trying to prove to Iowans that there’s something to do in every town, you’ve just got to go out and find it. The pair plan to complete their journey across Iowa by the end of September of 2021.
They’ll compile another book packed full of historical facts, photos, and tidbits about every town in the Hawkeye State. The Iowa book will be available in November 2021.
