Unified Spartans take plunge for Special Olympics

(ABC 6 News) – Mayo High school students took the plunge Wednesday as part of a Special Olympics Minnesota fundraiser.
During their 8th hour, students and staff jumped into a mobile pool in the Mayo high school parking lot provided by Special Olympics Minnesota.
The plunge was also meant to raise awareness for the schools’ Unified programming which aims to build relationships between general education and special education students.
The goal and intent of Unified programs are for these mutually beneficial connections to be carried out into the workforce and the community, well into the future.
With student leaders advocating for Unified Art and Unified Physical Education classes, the enrollment continues to grow
