UPDATE: Family says woman is in critical condition after being hit by vehicle Wednesday

UPDATE: The son of the woman who was hit by a vehicle Wednesday reached out to ABC 6 News with an update on his mother’s condition.

The man said his mom is in critical condition, lost a lot of blood, and has undergone surgery since the incident. He believes the driver was traveling faster than 20-25 mph.

(ABC 6 News) – An elderly woman was taken to the emergency room after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday.

The Rochester Police Department said a 64-year-old man was heading south on 14th Ave SW near Saint Marys Hospital just before 7 a.m. when he hit a 76-year-old woman who was in the road.

The woman was taken to the ER at Saint Marys. Police said they hadn’t been able to talk with the woman as of Thursday morning but believe her injuries are not life-threatening. Police said the woman was not in a crosswalk.

The driver said he was going between 20 and 25 mph at the time of the incident.

No charges or citations are expected but an investigation is ongoing.
