UPDATE: Missing Decorah student has been found safe
(ABC 6 News): UPDATE – Decorah police said Brandon Quam has been found safe and is being evaluated by EMS.
The department thanks the community for their efforts throughout the Monday.

(ABC 6 News): UPDATE- The Decorah Police Department has developed a team-based search process. Teams of volunteers are paired with trained law enforcement, fire department, or EMS professional to search for Brandon Quam.
Search efforts are being conducted on foot, horseback, drone, and UTVs. Canine units are on site.
All volunteers must register at the Decorah Fire Department garage before beginning the search.
Authorities say the search will stop at 8:00 pm. Search will reconvene, as needed, Tuesday morning, 8/24.

(ABC 6 News) – Police in Decorah is asking for the public’s help after a young man walked away from school Monday morning.
The sheriff’s office said Brandon Quam walked away from Decorah High School at 9:30 a.m. and was last seen walking on Water St.
Police say Brandon may not respond to you due to special needs.
Officials will be holding a briefing before organizing a coordinated search effort Monday evening at the Decorah Fire Department at 5 p.m.
Police are asking those who volunteer to wear a white or light-colored shirt.
"Brandon Quam is still missing. The best help is for people to simply look around the Decorah area. He is non-responsive so may not talk to you. If you see him call 911. Please check-in vehicles, yards, and areas that may be a nice quiet place to rest," police said.
Anyone who knows the person’s whereabouts is asked to contact law enforcement.
