UPDATE: Multiple crews respond to apartment fire in Kasson

(ABC 6 News) – Fire and Rescue crews were called to the 200 block of West Main Street in Kasson Thursday afternoon for a report of heavy smoke and smoke alarms going off in an apartment.

Kasson police said when officers arrived they found heavy smoke in an upstairs apartment and that fire crews discovered a fire in the kitchen.

Police said no one was in the apartment at the time of the fire and that one unit has smoke and fire damage, and another unit has smoke damage.

The American Red Cross serving Southeast Minnesota is assisting those who were displaced by the fire.
