An actual taste of winter weather on the way
We’re off to yet another mild start to the week with sunshine and highs in the low- to mid-40s. Quiet, comfortably cool weather will continue through Tuesday as well with just a little more cloud cover. There will still be some blue sky Tuesday, but temperatures will be just a touch cooler, topping out in the upper-30s Tuesday afternoon.
A small, fast-moving clipper will slide through southern Minnesota and northern Iowa Wednesday night, offering up the first shovel-able snow since early January. It’s not looking to be a significant amount of snow by most winter’s standards, but some of us may see up to 2 inches of snow. Some data is pointing to the potential of a little more, possibly up to 3 inches in a spot or two, although that will not be widespread.
Colder air will move in behind Wednesday night’s clipper. Highs will dip to the lower 30s on Thursday and will remain in the 20s on Friday. There is a slim chance of some additional flurries with Friday’s colder air. Once again, milder air is going to make a return this coming weekend with highs in the upper-30s to about 40° by Sunday.
