Colorful weekend in Clear Lake

The annual Clear Lake Color the Wind Kite Festival is here. On Saturday from 11-4, head out to downtown beach and venture out on the frozen lake to see kites, large and small, take to the sky and color the sky a brilliant painting.

This Saturday is lining up to be near perfect. The wind is light, that’s good for comfort but there’s also still enough (up above the surface there’s even more!) to take flight, especially out on the lake. Temperatures will reach the upper 30s and clouds will come and go. Should be a good one for all heading out.

We’re told ice thickness at the downtown beach isn’t of concern for those skeptic of heading out. Measurements this week have been taken and most places are running over a foot thick.
