Dangerous cold accompanies blizzard conditions
Along with expected blizzard conditions Thursday night into Saturday, dangerous cold will also push into the region. Northwest winds gusting as high as 40-55 mph at times will usher in the next blast of arctic air. Air temps will dive around -10° both Thursday night and Friday night. With the wind considered, wind chills will be in the -30 to -45° range in the coldest periods. Even during the daytime, wind chills stay well below zero.
It will be extremely dangerous to travel Thursday night to Saturday. For one, the roads may become impassible, but if you become stranded in these conditions, you’ll likely spend a few hours out in them. If you’re not prepared to do so, you’ll the thrust into an extremely dangerous scenario where frost bite can form on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.
