Light snow showers Saturday followed by Arctic cold
Light snow showers will continue on and off throughout Saturday as the remnants of the winter storm are still close by, however little, if any accumulations are expected.
The wind will also remain elevated with gusts up to 30 mph at times, even higher in parts of north Iowa where blizzard conditions will continue through much of the day.
The wind will lead to blowing and drifting snow which will result in some slippery stretches on roads in open and rural areas. Meanwhile, road conditions should improve throughout the day elsewhere.
Bitter cold arrives through the day as temperatures fall through the single digits as the day progresses. Temperatures will fall well below-zero.
Wind Chill Alerts are in effect for the entire area tonight through Sunday morning as wind chills may get as cold as -35°.
