Light snow Thursday with minor accumulations
A quick hitting clipper system will dive southeast from the northern plains and track through Iowa on Thursday afternoon leading to the chance for light snow across the ABC 6 Weather First area.
Light snow will be likely in the 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM timeframe. It’ll be a fluffy snow and with how cold it’s been lately, it should have no problem sticking to the roads so some slick stretches are certainly possible.
Accumulations of 1-3″ is likely across northern Iowa where some are under a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY beginning Thursday afternoon and lasting until early Friday morning. The combination of snow and gusty winds will lead to slick spots and likely blowing snow in open areas. Amounts decrease further north into southeast Minnesota where little to none is expected.
Snow will be out of the area by late evening with clouds remaining through the night into Friday.
