Mild, windy spring weather through the weekend
It’s been a comfortably mild finish to the week and that trend is going to continue through the weekend. Even beyond the weekend and with a cold front moving through the region late Sunday, temperatures are going to remain above normal for early March.
Winds will remain gusty Saturday and will increase Sunday ahead of an approaching storm system. Winds will be out of the south, keeping overnight temperatures above freezing and boosting afternoon highs into record territory both Saturday and Sunday. There is an opportunity for a little rain late Sunday into Monday morning, and it’s not out of the question that some snow may join the mix. However, amounts don’t look to be impressive. At a minimum, it will help offset windy and dry conditions that have led to increased fire danger.
Next week’s weather pattern will become a lot more active across the United States. The bigger question mark with that pattern is whether or not storm systems will come close enough to bring us much-needed precipitation. We’re keeping a very close eye on a couple, strong areas of low pressure that could bring us some rain and snow late next week. Fingers crossed that we can pick up some of that moisture. That’s also a heads-up for some quick changes in the weather as we move into what is typically a very active time of the year, weatherwise.
