Red Flag Warning issued for north Iowa Thursday, outdoor burning not recommended
A warm and dry airmass will move into the region on Thursday and combined with gusty winds raises concern for outdoor fires that may be difficult to control.
Temperatures will soar into the 50s after a cold start to the day. The wind will also increase throughout the day with gusts up to 30 mph possible at times. The dry air along with parched vegetation due to lack of precipitation will also be added fuels for any outdoors fires to spread.
As a result, a RED FLAG WARNING has been issued primarily for northern Iowa from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM where outdoor burning should be avoided.
Although southeast Minnesota is not in the warning, any outdoor burning is not recommended.
