Seasonably cold through Saturday
Colder, drier, Canadian air is settling into the upper Midwest and will hang around into the weekend. This is the first dose of seasonable air for this February so far, and looks like it might be the only “cold snap” we see this month. As more cold air moves in early Friday, temperatures may top out in the upper teens in some locations.
The chilly air will linger into Sunday morning before temperatures get a boost back to being above average Sunday afternoon as highs return to the upper 30s. The weather has had some big swings to it this week, but the drama level remain low for the foreseeable future.
The warm-up starting late this weekend will continue into early next week. Highs will return to the 40s across the area by Monday afternoon and will stay there through at least Wednesday of next week. Even when temperatures take a bit of a dip late next week, they’ll remain above normal going into the start of March.
