Snow Continues Today, Heavy At Times
The winter storm the Weather First Team has been tracking all-week will continue to push snow into & through the area today – early Friday morning. ALERT DAYS remain in place both days as a result.
Light snow will continue to move in throughout Thursday morning, only to pick up in coverage & intensity for the afternoon through the late-evening. Timing of the heaviest snow will be from about 3 PM – 9 PM, with the snow completely move out by daybreak Friday.
There has been a change to our expected snowfall total range, now at 3-5″ area-wide, with a few locations across extreme SE MN & NE IA, possibly exceeding that range by an inch or two.
Wind will be a bit breezy at times, seeing gusts around 30 mph or so, blowing the snow around. Be prepared for low visibility, as well as blowing/drifting snow, & slick roads on the travel scene later this afternoon & evening into Friday morning.
Conditions will slowly improve Friday, only for another snow chance to quickly move in later Saturday through Sunday, bringing another 1-3″ for the area. Temperatures will be hovering in the 30s through the weekend & into next week.
