Temperatures back on the upswing as the winter cold exits

The return of winter was brief as more mild air returns on Thursday which will carry over into the upcoming weekend.

After a cold start to Thursday, temperatures will warm into the low 50s by afternoon with the help of sunshine and a breezy southerly wind gusting up to 30 mph at times.

It’ll be similar for Friday with highs returning to the low 50s on a mainly sunny sky. However, smoke from fires burning in the Texas panhandle may make it’s way into the area which could lead to some haziness and cooler temperatures.

The warmth kicks in for Saturday with high temperatures near records in the low 60s. Record temperatures will likely be broken on Sunday as highs climb even further into the upper 60s to lower 70s.

A storm system looks to sweep a cold front through the area sometime late Sunday afternoon into Sunday night which may spark a light shower.
