Warmer, spring-like weather returns Thursday
Despite a huge block of cold air over the upper Midwest Wednesday, warmer air will make a quick comeback starting Thursday. Lows tonight will drop down to around 10°, if not the single-digits, between Midnight and sunrise, then make a rebound beginning late Thursday morning. By Thursday afternoon, thanks to a southwest wind and abundant sunshine, highs will make their way back to the upper 40s to around 50° Thursday afternoon.
That trend will continue Friday and, especially, through this coming weekend. Highs will make a jump back into record territory Saturday and Sunday, potentially setting new record highs with the return of 60s both Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
A storm system and accompanying cold front will push into the region late Sunday, which will encourage a warm-up Sunday afternoon and provide the focus for the development of showers and, potentially, a couple of thunderstorms. Monday will be a touch cooler thanks to that front, although highs will still run well above average, reaching the mid-40s Monday afternoon.
Next week looks to remain mild, and the weather pattern is going to become a bit more active, bringing an increased chance for occasional showers and some much-needed rainfall.
